The Netherlands Fortress Museum
The most exciting museum on the Naarden ramparts!

The fortified town of Naarden nowadays is a lush green pearl in a hectic world, with beautiful houses, rugged barracks and overgrown ramparts. But it used to be one of the Netherlands most elaborate defence works, defending the rich province of Holland and its trading city of Amsterdam from invaders coming from the east.
You can still visit that past in Naarden, by walking around in the town, by discovering the underground casemats of the Fortress Museum, making a trip in the museumboat through the moat and experiencing a shot being fired from an 1813 12 pounder muzzle loading gun. With the smell of gunpowder, you'll re-live the past in the Fortress Museum!
Welcome in Naarden,
